"A Theological Curveball" (Psalm 145:1, Psalm 145:17-21, Luke 20:27-38)

Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday service

“A Theological Curveball!” What is a “curveball?” Outside of baseball, of course, it is something which is unexpected, surprising, or disruptive. There's always a curveball on every mission. So here on this “All Saints Sunday” we have several theological curveballs. Hence, on All Saints Sunday the Psalmist is telling us to rejoice for the great things God has done for us, even though we are remembering those who have died. Then in the Gospel Jesus tells us about all the trials and tribulations believers were going to face, but reminds us that he will never leave us or forsake us—he will be with us to the end of the ages.
