"A Glimpse of God" (2 Peter 1:16-21, Matthew 17:1-9)

Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. NunesRev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, February 26, 2017
Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday service

Peter had a glimpse of God! Peter’s message was based on his eyewitness account of the supernatural events that marked the life of Jesus. It was not myths and imaginative stories as was the message heretics. In Christ’s transfiguration, the disciples received a foretaste of what his coming will be like when he returns to establish his eternal kingdom. Peter’s message rests on two solid foundation. Glimpses of God call us to alter our lives and to begin to see and do things differently. We get “Glimpses of God” in Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Communion, Worship, Prayer, for example.
