"Hear the Good News!" (Acts 10:34-43, John 20:1-18)

Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. NunesRev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, April 16, 2017
Part of the Holy Week series, preached at a Easter Sunday service

There is news everywhere! News in the newspaper! News on television; news on our iPhones or smartphones! News on our iPad and so on! And unfortunately, most of the news we get is horrible, depressing news! Can you imagine if once a week—only once a week, we would pick up the newspaper and it would say: “Read the Good News!” And it would all be truly, “Good News!” Or when we put on the television on that one day the news reporter would say: “Hear the Good News!” I don’t believe we would know what to do because we are so conditioned to “hear bad news!” And so: “Hear the good news, Christ died for us while we yet sinners; That proves God’s love toward us. In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.” And the church responds: "In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!”
