"God Makes Unlikely Choices" (Acts 9:1-20, John 21:15-19)

Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday service

Speaking about the power of Christ to redeem sinners and build his church, Russell Moore recently wrote: "The next Billy Graham might be drunk right now. The next Charles Wesley might currently be a profanity-spewing hip-hop artist. The next Mother Teresa might be a heroin-addicted porn star this week. But the Spirit of God can turn all that around. And seems to delight to do so. Certainly, God has a way of making unlikely choices. When God choose Peter and Paul to serve him these two men were "unlikely choices." Peter had denied knowing Christ three times and Saul (Paul) had was busy overseeing the killing of Christians--people of the Way. Yet the Lord would forgive them--redeem them--then use them.
