"After the Encounter" (Isaiah 6:1-8, John 3:1-17)

Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. NunesRev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, May 27, 2018
Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday service

For some folks encountering the “Divine,” “The Holy” can be dramatic, earth shattering, memorable, astounding, emotional, awesome, spectacular, unforgettable, life-transforming, etc. For others, encountering “The Divine” may not be as dramatic or spectacular, but I would submit that it will be life-transforming. Whether we like it or not—whether it excites us are not—it will change our lives. In both the Isaiah text and Gospel story from John about Nicodemus, we have two encounters. To follow God rightly does not always lead to great congregations, vast religious campuses, and budgets that rival those of small nations. To follow Christ means that we must be a servant!
