"The Story of Two Touches" (Mark 5:21-43, Psalm 130:1-8)

Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. NunesRev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, July 1, 2018
Part of the Pentecost series, preached at a Sunday service

The Psalmist writes in Ps. 130, “Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. If you, LORD, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, so that we can, with reverence, serve you.” Religion can get in the way of a relationship with God. Faith is not about rules, regulations and religion. It is about we human beings reaching out to a God who reaches out to us through Jesus Christ who reaches into the pain and anguish of our living. The good news for the people in our scripture lesson is that the barriers all fall away. Jesus will be touched and will on the other hand offer a touch.
