"When Empty Is Good!" (Psalm 118:1-2, Psalm 118:12-24, Colossians 3:1-4, Matthew 28:1-10)

Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. NunesRev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, April 12, 2020
Part of the Holy Week series, preached at a Easter Sunday service

Here is a unique Easter insight: Easter Offers "Emptiness Full of Promise" "The world offers promises full of emptiness. But Easter offers emptiness full of promise." Empty cross, Empty tomb, Empty grave-clothes … all full of promise. If I were writing the Easter story, I don't think I'd choose emptiness as my symbolic gesture. What is it about God that makes him so favor this kind of paradox? Paradox - a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true. Empty yet full!
