Water has always been very important in Christian theological understanding of “cleansing—the washing away of one’s sins. Water as, and is, very crucial and necessary to and for our baptism.
In our Baptismal Covenant we say these words: Pour out your Holy Spirit, to bless this gift of water and those who receive it, to wash away their sin and clothe them in righteousness
throughout their lives…
