Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday service

In the Gospel story that was read in your hearing one can certainly imagine that this woman bent over -crippled for 18 years would have lamented to Yahweh the God of Israel.

She might have cried out:
When will i stand straight?
When will I see the skies?
When will walk upright?

She needed healing- she needed a drastic change -she needed a bold move!
She need A Revolutionary Change and it would come on the Sabbath.

Revolution is defined as a radically new or innovative;
outside or beyond established procedures, or principles.

Walter Wink, in his book Engaging the Powers, suggests that Jesus' action represented a revolution happening in seven short verses. In the midst of a highly patriarchal culture Jesus breaks at least six strict cultural rules.
