"Mary, A Faithful Mother" (Acts 1:1-14, Luke 24:44-53)

Part of the Sunday series, preached at a Sunday service

Today on this Ascension Sunday, wherein we also celebrate Mother’s Day, I would like to look at Mary, the Mother of Jesus. My sermon title “Mary, A Faithful Mother.” Mary was faithful to the very end. Faithful: loyal, constant, steadfast, true, devoted, unswerving, staunch,
dedicated, committed; trusty, trustworthy, dependable and reliable. What if you knew your child’s future before he was even born?
His profession—his impact, how it would all end? Mary knew this about Jesus. Not exactly, but closer than any other mother ever would about a child she carried and raised. She knew the scriptures; she saw her own life change as she accepted the role of His mother. Yet Mary never abandoned her Son—she was there to the very end.
