"Very Truly!" (1 Peter 2:19-25, John 10:1-10)

Between verses 3 and 11 John quotes Jesus as prefacing his discussion with Nicodemus with the words, “Very truly I tell you.” The “very truly I tell you” phrase is used by Jesus in John's gospel a total of 26 times. It's used in John more than in any other Gospel, and is used nowhere else in all of the New Testament. So when we read this phrase, we should pay very close attention to what follows. Because what follows is obviously an extremely important truth Jesus, through John wants us to know, and believe.
