"Prayer for the King" (Psalm 110:1-7, Mark 11:1-11)
Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, March 28, 2021Part of the Holy Week series, preached at a Palm Sunday service
The Israelites were looking forward to a Messiah-king who would usher in God’s reign.
But they missed the key point! Jesus riding on a young donkey—a lowly animal should have given then some inclination that Jesus was a different kind of King. As the Savior rode down the road toward the capital city, two throngs of people converged upon him – a massive crowd coming out of the city; another group following him (Mt. 21:9; Mk. 11:9).
