"Prayer of Confession" (Psalm 32:1-11, Mark 1:9-15)

Rev. Dr. Marjorie E. NunesRev. Dr. Marjorie E. Nunes, February 21, 2021
Part of the Lent series, preached at a Lent service

Penitential Psalms or Psalms of Confession, is a name given from very early times to Psalms, which are especially expressive of sorrow for sin. The name belonged originally to the fifty-first Psalm, which was recited at the close of daily morning service in the primitive Church.
This Psalm is one of the seven penitential psalms, as its focus is on the former sins of the psalmist. The psalm itself is not a prayer of repentance, but a confession of sin.
