A Love Feast Memorial for a longstanding member who went home to be with the Lord on May 14, 2015.
Thanks be onto God for our church family
Our Sunday School strives to teach the youths and children the “Living Word.”
Thanks to all the Sunday School teachers who serve on Sundays – Karen, Missy, Dana, Ricky, Mike, Samson, Rae, Tracy, and all the other servants of the Lord who volunteer when asked! May the Lord continue to bless your labor.
The youths worked on a mission project making blankets for veterans at the Northport Veterans Hospital on Long Island.
Thanks to Ellen who spearheaded this mission project, which was done on Friday, October 9, at Youth Fellowship.
The youths are striving to follow these words of Jesus:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'” (Matthew 25:35-46)
The children learned about other children in need around the world, and how UNICEF and UMCOR helps. They will be trick or treating for UNICEF.
Teaching the younger children about mission is also very important and necessary. It teaches them at a young age how to serve others.
A Prayer for World Communion Sunday
Jesus prayed that we might be one.
One in spirit
One in mission
In union and communion with each other and with You.
Today, God, we confess fumblings and failures in accomplishing unity, as we set aside yet another day to remind ourselves of the task.
On this World Communion Sunday, give us eyes to recognize your reflection in the eyes of Christians everywhere.
Give us a mind to accept and celebrate our differences.
Give us a heart big enough to love your children everywhere.
We thank you for setting a table with space enough for us all! Amen.
